This pluggin looks nuts wtf!
brilliant
So much you can do!
Fantastic video. Just a hunch, but I suspect if you rename the title to something like "Productive vs Creative Brain" you may get more views :)
I've been waffling on current. I wish we could use it as an FX like serumFX. Anyways sick stuff
basically all of the fx available in current are available as standalone plugs, so you pretty much can do that if you buy all the plugs separately or buy the subscription. That being said I have also been waffling on getting current lol. This vid makes me really want to take the plunge tho.....
No wavetable editor, limited effects slot, cannot modulate points on curves, cool combs and chord mode. And my huge pet peeve the sine oscillator looks like it goes down first and changing the phase knob just moves a line. SINE GO UP FIRST. 😂
Pardon my ignorance, but in which synths can you modulate points on curve?
@@Taeodoestech He might be talking about how in Serum's LFOs you can map the curves between two points to serum's inbuild macros, which you can then create automation lanes for. At the same time you can also map these curve points to other LFO's for some cool results. Not too sure if that's what he's mentioning tho
then your OSC will be out of phase with the sub osc :P - polarity down is cleaner with the sub osc
Great video mate. Extremely important info in here. Took a lot away from it. Thanks
You can do a lot of similar things with Vital but not to this degree (its all i have atm and serum) but yeah. Awesome sounds .
Serum's combs and delay can get quite similar physical modelling type stuff imo
Love it
jeez that's cool sounding. now i want current lol
Scifi UI sounds
[insert comment on the thing with the and the subcription and stuff and such]
Just pure wizardry, and I finally can feel myself like human watching the alien computer in action.
33:21 you can lock the pitch of an oscillator by turning the harmonic down to zero and then turning up the shift to find your desired pitch that it will lock to regardless of midi info. Turning harmonic to zero cuts off the midi pitch info
Jesus, we eatin good boys
If Phase Plant 2 is so good, why isn't there a Phase Plant 2² yet?
bruh that trick with the pitch follower and the resonator seems so obvious in hindsight. I'm definitely going to try messing around with the audio and pitch follower more often now
Btw dude, I saw you struggling to click the thin dotted line between devices to add a new device. If you hold ALT, it will spread the devices for you and gives you an area to click so you can add a device easier :)
Damn, I'm only 3min in and I'm already learning shit. Thanks dude. Also, I totally agree with you, Phase Plant is the absolute goat and literally every single producer should be using it. And Phase Plant is just one part of kilohearts. I find myself using the little modules on their own ALL the time. Especially the transient shaper.
waking up to a new frequent sound design video is a blessing
at 33:10 you can lock the sampler for any input note by setting the harmonic to 0x and increasing the shift (440hz shift and root note at A4 will play the original sample)
Legend thank you :)
Mega nerd
unhinged as always
wake up babe new sound design video!!!!!
Scared me for a second! Thought perhaps they dropped a new iteration and I somehow missed it. Yeah, Phaseplant is one of the big three imo along with Serum and Vital.
23:00 that part of the sound design session where you accidentally open a portal to hell
Hey man, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to express my gratitude for your work! your music is incredibly well-mixed and always sounds exceptionally clean. I would love to see a mixing tutorial from you, as your insights would be valuable. As an Ableton user, I sometimes find myself struggling with the limitations in sends and achieving clean and efficient parallel compression. Your tips and tricks on mixing, and how you achieve such a clean and unique sound, would be greatly appreciated. If you use any other DAWs for your mixing process, I would love to hear about that as well. Thank you so much for your time and for sharing your expertise. Much Love brotha
Yes! Tell the world about Phase Plant!
Let’s GOoooooOoOooOoO
It's such a shame a synth that amazing still has a bad sound engine that sounds very thin and lofi.
maybe it's something they will change in the future? the team behind it is pretty good at adding stuff that is beneficial. I do find that some of the sounds it makes are kind of flat I guess, but maybe it's a skill issue on my part for not knowing sound design.
@@raptorboss6688 hopefully, yeah the guys behind it are indeed great. Fx can only do so much to a source material, if they could at least provide additional timbres for their oscillators it would be dope.
turn off stable volume in youtube. this ruins the learning experience because this feature makes the frequency flat or mono like
I just do all this stuff in Bitwig. I don't see the point in Phaseplant.
You could recreate most of this (or any) synth externally in any daw for sure. Especially when the sound is mostly post processing. The beauty of Phase Plant is how the whole ecosystem interacts with itself. Not to say the way Bitwig does this poorly, it's actually great, but it just isn't the same. More preference than anything! In general nobody needs any of this stuff, the default kit of ableton or bitwig is more than enough. This is kind of just an alternative and very well developed kit that can be integrated into any daw. Now, the whole kilohearts kit / modulation AND all the native Bitwig kit / modulation? Well, that's the kind of thing that makes me consider using Bitwig more :p
@@Frequentaudio well, what I really like, is that even the khz plugs that I can't recreate are pretty much all available for free. So I get to keep my Bitwig workflow and input any weird tricks you show us pretty easily!
True I have bitwig and phase plant and the compliment each other so well ,loving the content man!
@@Frequentaudio well what I love is that most of those plugs are free anyway. So I can just do whatever you do, and if Bitwig lacks a feature I can just use the free vst version of one of its modules. So it makes for such a streamlined workflow with the channel/group modulators and Bitwig containers. I wasn't aware you used Bitwig. I figured it would be dope for you, being so sound design oriented. The workflow for it is just so good.
What I want most in PhastPlant that Serum has is more complex preset filters like comb and reverb
Agree! I feel like most of the main competing synths (serum, vital, current, etc) have filter sets and features that are very distinct and powerful. I would of course love to see any of this integrated into Phase Plant, I'm just grateful it finally has its own robust filter set with its own character! Im sure they'll add even more filters and stuff in time, they can't help themselves lol
there is a comb filter though? and im not sure what you mean by reverb in the context of filters but phase plant can do a lot of things that might not be obvious initially... like how there's no sequencer technically but using the modulators and remap allows you to create insane sequences on your own that aren't limited in the ways a set sequencer would be
@@l0rdw3rm i'd assume they meant the "comb/reverb" filters that are under the misc section in the filter
@@l0rdw3rm @pyroific yes I literally meant the filter called "Reverb" cause thats one of my favorites lol
@@Pyroific ya
this isn't bitwig... >:( lovely video as always
lol this ain't even live 12 we out here in the stone age
uhhh new filters want me to take a look at this again
phase plant is such a beast. ive owned since it came out but have only recently been diving into its depths. serum and others are plenty powerful to do most of what I want but phase plant just takes all that to another dimension. great video!
2?! 😳🤤
🔥🔥🔥
i just started exploring phase plant today and made a beat using (pre-made) pp synths exclusively and now this is coming out thx a lot, boutta start crafting my own presets
hehehe pp synths

Ooh! This is giving me even more reason to buy this bad boi 💪 Phase Plant has gotten even crazier! EDIT: Your later half of your video is REALLY reminding me of SeamlessR's style of neuro shenanigans. Great work!
wake up babe new Frequent sound design video came out
love your vids so much
I was trying out that plugin for awhile and started using it in every project. Finally bought it just now. Thanks for the transient split rack. I was wondering what other stuff it could be used for and found your video. Glad I rediscovered your channel, haven't been here in awhile.
dude, your discussion on the productive vs creative brain and how habits are formed rings SO TRUE to me! this is really invaluable advice. I felt like I was plateauing for YEARS as an "edm" producer, in the last year I switched my focus to more media production (all genres including orchestral), which caused me to switch DAWs, learn new tools, brush up on my music theory, etc... And guess what? I'm the most productive I've been in years, producing my favorite music, and having fun doing so! And I really think it's because by switching DAWs and learning entirely new tools, I could not RELY on the habits I formed previously - I really had to build everything from the ground up, but now with a more intermediate knowledge of production, so I could more intelligently form these "new" habits. I really just had an "aha" moment and had to share! Thank you for this lecture.
The cursor tho
Yo dude! This was super helpful! I've been doing it lately and loving the exploration process.
More videos with CURRENT please this is great
Just completed an hour session with no mouse or hand and I wasn't very successful...
